History
As executioner, Anders Gustaf Dalman, born 1848 in Norberg, died 1920 in Stockholm, beheaded the last six criminals “sentenced to death” in Sweden. Dalman carried out his first execution in 1890. The criminal on that occasion was Anna Månsdotter, also known as the Yngsjö Murderer. She was the last woman to be executed in Sweden. The location was Kristianstad. The last execution to be held in Sweden was at Långholmen, November 23, 1910, by the guillotine. It was the first and last time that the guillotine was used in Sweden. Capital punishment was abolished in Sweden in 1921.
