Now you can discover for yourself that it is not only an exciting place but also a piece of unspoiled nature. A visit to the island can be a full-day excursion with a walk and a refreshing swim in the summer.

Långholmen’s museum will give you the opportunity to learn more about the island’s 250-year prison history from the days of the Spinning House in the 18th century until 1975 when the prison was closed down. Enter a prison cell and see for yourself how the prisoners lived back then. Read and experience the prison conditions from that time, how the prisoners were treated and what their everyday life looked like.

At certain times of the year, guided tours are given on weekends. Welcome to Stockholm’s most captivating museum.

The prison museum is open every day from 11:00 to 16:00.
