Here there is place for both wise words and great thoughts\u2026 Here you are just as close to the coffee, lunch, reception and hotel cells, as the room is basically in the middle of everything.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>History<\/h3>\n<p>Wilhelm Teodor Anckarsv\u00e4rd (1816-1878), prison architect, drew the Central Prison and parts of Kronoh\u00e4ktet, today L\u00e5ngholmen Hotell. Kronoh\u00e4ktet had 200 cells built according to a model called the Philadelphia system. With this model the inmates were confined to their cells all the time. There they would devote themselves to bible studies, hard work and alcohol abstinence. The Central Prison had 500 cells, 200 day cells and 300 night cells, the so-called Auburn cells. These cells had no windows and the barred cell door opened on to the cell corridor. The central prison was demolished in 1982. Anckarsv\u00e4rd was a very productive in his lifetime. He was involved in many of the 47 prisons that were erected from the middle of the 19th century. Anckarsv\u00e4rd also drew the V\u00e4xj\u00f6 Theatre and Villa Kvickjock in Djurg\u00e5rden, Stockholm.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section][et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243;
